As I mentioned in the last post, linen is my favorite fabric to sew and wear.  If I haven't worked with it in a while, I'll move a linen project to the top of my queue and immediately feel refreshed after sewing it. Linen is the fabric that made me fall in love with sewing my clothing, so it has a special place in my heart.

When it's been a while since I've worked with linen, I miss it. I miss feeling the fabric in my hands and the way it behaves. I miss the predictability of it and the strength it embodies. I miss how it makes me feel that I'm directly connected to nature, that I am holding nature in my hands.

Making No. 8 / FOREST

I’ve (Emily) always admired the themes of each issue here at Making. They’re very grounding, and connected to the natural world, which is one thing that’s so unique about Making.  I love seeing a connection between the crafts we dedicate precious hours to, and the outside world that inspires us and provides many of the supplies we need to do our making.
